Maaaaannnnn... Lots and lots of stuff has been going on since my last post on here..
Quit my job at Wal-Mart. That alone was pretty drastic. You know you've hit a low point in a job when people say they noticed "You've become a happier person." after losing that job.
Managed to land myself in my fourth attempt at a relationship with my former significant other. Had things going steady and wonderful for months, and then, as per usual, get cheated on. Again. If it's one piece of knowledge I can walk away with it's that you definitely can't turn a hoe into a housewife, and that no matter what someone might say, some people are completely incapable of changing or encompassing emotion that extends beyond themselves.
I'm starting to think chivalry, loyalty, and hell, maybe even having a little bit of compassion are dead concepts in this day and age.
But, on a more positive note: I've been working at a new job building and repairing pool tables. And outside of the fact that I am absolutely fucking beat by the end of the day, it is helping me get into better shape. You figure each table has 3 pieces of slate each, with each one weighing 100lbs for the smallest of tables, all the way up to a few hundred for the larger tables. And at a few tables per day, it's starting to add up.
Beyond that, I'm making my futile attempt at this whole online dating thing. I'm starting to remember exactly why I hated that shit to begin with. Everything is judged at face value. Personality that goes beyond text and a few pictures is simply discarded. Every now and then, I manage to land a conversation with somebody and then poof! they just stop fucking talking. I guess the anonymity of the internet automatically excuses being terribly rude. Apparently I didn't get the memo.
I came across a new book that I've been procrastinating reading. It's the biography of David Bowie. Snagged a copy of it from a little record shop in Little 5 Points. Hoping to eventually find some time to break that open and start readin it..
Picked up my guitars and actually started playing them (relatively) frequent. I've been focusing more on bass than I have been with my guitars, but I've been playing both a good bit. Every now and then, I break out the bongos too, and that's always fun.
The big project I've got going on right now though is... MASHUPS!
I've been jammin TONS of mashups lately. Hearing such odd combinations has definitely made music a huge degree more interesting lately.
I've got a few that I'm currently playing around with that may or may not see the light of day:
I'm So Hood vs. Here Comes the Sun
Master of Puppets vs. Ms. New Booty
Tubthumpin vs. Ms. New Booty
Ice Cream Paint Job vs. Tears in Heaven
I've also begun jotting down some lyrics and song names for some of my own stuff. I don't really know what direction I want to take that in, and it'll probably never materialize because I'd never be comfortable with allowing anyone else to hear/read it, but hey, worth the mention haha
Aaaanyways, that about sums it up.
Peace,
-M
-EDIT-
Oh yeah, one more thing:
My first mashup I'm comfortable with posting. Check it out :)
